Adults like to feel like kids again and every time you enter an amusement park you can relive that feeling. You should definitely visit these amusement parks because some of them hide world records and unimagined adventures! Let’s go together…
Our tips for a successful day:
- Try to visit parks during the week and outside local vacations, because then you have to queue less and usually the tickets are cheaper, too.
- Book your tickets online before your visit and find out if they might be available somewhere cheaper.
- On new or particularly popular rides, all hell usually breaks loose at the beginning of the day, so visit the less popular roller coasters first. In most cases, the crowds have dispersed by lunch at the latest.
- Don’t go to the amusement park alone! Look for a group, because in most cases group tickets are much cheaper.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Great Britain
Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a traditional amusement park in Lancashire in Great Britain. With a total of 38 attractions, the park right by the sea attracts 13 million visitors every year. The steel roller coaster “The Big One” reaches speeds of 119 km/h on just under 1.6km of track. The park also has the longest “dark ride”, i.e. a roller coaster in the dark, on offer. On Vallhalla, visitors ride in Viking boats down a 610m stretch of water in the dark, with plenty to discover along the way. A day ticket for the park costs £42 (about €50). Universal’s Island of Adventure, Orlando, USA
This amusement park is definitely something for movie fans because among the total of 16 attractions are a roller coaster called “The Incredible Hulk Coaster” and a themed area called “Jurassic Park”. Who wouldn’t want to feel like a movie star? Since 2010, the park has also attracted Harry Potter fans, especially the roller coaster ride “Hagrid’s magical Creature Motorbike Adventure”. However, a visit to the amusement park is not cheap, a day ticket costs $109, but the view of Hogwarts Castle alone will quickly make you forget the price. Dollywood, Tennessee, USA
Dollywood amusement park in the small town of Pigeon Forge is owned in part by Dolly Parton, who also gave it its name. Every year, 2.4 million visitors flock to the park’s more than 50 attractions. In the park, you will find 9 roller coasters, one of them, the ‘Lightening Rod’, is the fastest wooden roller coaster in the world and brings it to 118km / h. For the hot summer days, you can also refresh yourself on two water coasters.

Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen, Denmark
Tivoli is located in the center of Copenhagen and is a world-famous amusement and theme park. Every year, about 5 million people flock to the park to be enchanted by the 25 attractions. In Tivoli, you can let your adrenaline really shoot up on four roller coasters and two water rides. The two newest roller coasters are from 2019. The amusement park is open from mid-April to the end of September. Since 2005, however, there is a Christmas market in the pre-Christmas period. You can get tickets starting at around 20€. Europapark, Rust, Germany
With 5.8 million visitors every year, Europapark is the most visited amusement park in the German-speaking region. On 95ha you will find over 100 attractions and shows. In the 15 European and 3 fantasy-themed areas, there are 13 roller coasters, 45 restaurants, 6 hotels, and even a campground. The most famous roller coaster in Europapark is Silverstar, with its 73m height it reaches 130km/h and centrifugal forces of up to 4G.
Besides such roller coasters, however, there are many attractions for families and children in the award-winning theme park. Tickets are available here for 55€ for adults. Six Flags Great Adventure Park, Jackson, USA

Six Flags Great Adventure is the second-largest theme park in the world, after Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The 58 attractions on the site attract more than 3 million visitors to the theme park every year. Among the 13 roller coasters the theme park has to offer, is the world’s tallest and second fastest roller coaster, Kingda Ka. The roller coaster is 139m high, which corresponds to almost 45 stories, and comes to a breathtaking 206km / h. You should not miss such a world record holder. The park can be visited between the end of March and the beginning of January. A day ticket costs $40 and those who travel as a group can pay up to $10 less per ticket for admission. More info here!
Fuji-Q Highland, Japan
The Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park at the northern foot of Mount Fuji in Japan also has some world records in store for you. Here you can enjoy the world’s steepest roller coaster, the Takabisha. With its 121° incline, it is a real challenge for all adrenaline junkies among you. In addition to the steepest roller coaster in the world, you can also marvel at one of the fastest roller coasters in the world, the Do-Donpa. It reaches 180km/h and at such speeds, you can forget about the beautiful panorama. A day ticket costs ¥10,500 (about 80€), but if you arrive by bus, you get a discount and pay only ¥6,200 (about 50€). So use public transportation if you don’t want to pay that much money. Phantasialand, Brühl, Germany
Here I am as an author really somewhat biased, because it is my absolute favorite park in Europe. However, Phantasialand also has a lot to offer, on 28ha you have 32 attractions, including 7 roller coasters. An overnight stay in one of the three hotels allows you to ride roller coasters and stroll through the park even after it closes. Some of the roller coasters hold crazy records, such as Taron. Taron is the fastest multi-launch coaster in the world and will literally send you flying out of your seats. After a wild ride on Taron, we recommend you the tarte flambée in the nearby tavern. Another highlight in Phantasialand is the roller coaster Colorado Adventure, which was inaugurated by Michael Jackson at the time. So you can feel like true Hollywood stars here. - The fastest roller coaster in the world is the Formula Rossa at Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi. It reaches a terrific 240km/h in just 4.9 seconds.
- If you like wooden roller coasters, you’ll get your money’s worth at Heidepark Soltau in Germany, where Colossos is located. The sight alone is breathtaking, but the speed of 110 km/h is nothing to scoff at either.
