Destinations in Europe

In pandemic times, we all don’t like to spend a lot of time on travelling by plane, which is why 2021 destinations in Europe are very popular. Here are our top destinations and all the info on entry requirements and the current numbers (as of 12.10.2021).

Portugal

PORTUGAL

One of the most popular destinations this year is and remains Portugal. The country is not only popular with tourists but also with digital nomads who have simply moved their home office to a nicer place. Here’s our guide on how to become digital nomads in 2021.  To spend your vacation in this diverse country, keep the following in mind:

Entry requirements

In Portugal, one must make the distinction between the mainland and the island of Madeira and the Azores. To enter the Portuguese mainland, EU – citizens must prove the following:

Either

– Digital proof of vaccination via the CovPass app or the Corona Warn app, or
– A negative PCR or antigen test, which must not be older than 72 hours or
– Confirmation of disease with COVID-19, which is not older than 6 months.

On the island of Madeira as well as on the Azores these rules also apply. However, travelers, whether vaccinated, recovered or tested, must undergo another test on site and isolate themselves for the time they are waiting for the result and avoid contact with other people as much as possible.

Current figures and restrictions in Portugal

The incidence (corona cases per 100,000 inhabitants) in Portugal is currently around 40. In public transport, restaurants and bars, a mouth-nose covering must be worn. In addition, as in Germany, it is recommended to wash and disinfect hands regularly.

Croatia

CROATIA

Croatia is also becoming increasingly popular as a European destination. Compared to Italy or Spain, the country is relatively inexpensive and has a unique coastal landscape to offer. In addition, it is also very popular with sailors, because the waters of the Adriatic are calm and even complete beginners can enjoy the view from a sailboat.

Entry requirements

Travelers from Germany and the EU can enter Croatia without proof of vaccination, Certificate of Recovery or test certificate.

Current figures and restrictions in Croatia

The 7-day incidence in Croatia is currently over 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and only about 45% of the population is vaccinated. Accordingly, one should move carefully in the country. Be sure to follow existing hygiene rules and wear a mouth-nose covering indoors, even if it is no longer mandatory. Protect yourself and others from severe or fatal infections.

France

FRANCE

France is so popular because it has everything to offer travelers. From beautiful beaches to populated metropolises to the high peaks of the Alps, France just doesn’t get boring.

Entry requirements

The Foreign Office is currently warning against unnecessary travel to French overseas territories. These areas are very severely affected by Corona and infection is considered likely. In mainland France, there is a traffic light classification of affected countries. When entering from orange or red classified countries, unvaccinated travelers must present a negative PCR. Regardless of this classification, vaccinated travelers may enter without further restrictions. All EU member states are also currently on the green spectrum of French classification, where travelers may enter freely.

Current figures and restrictions in France

The incidence in France is currently around 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The so-called 3G rule applies in public spaces – visitors to restaurants, bars, clubs and other public places must prove that they have either been vaccinated, recovered or tested (negative). Public life in France goes on again, plus a vaccination rate of about 75%.

Greece

GREECE

The Greek islands and the Mediterranean Sea are simply the perfect combination! Enthusiastic sailors meet beach vacationers and island explorers here. But also the Greek mainland holds many a secret and is a true paradise for hobby historians.

Entry requirements

You may enter Greece, whether by ship, plane or car, only with a valid proof of vaccination, proof of recovery or a PCR test, which is not older than 48 hours. This regulation applies in principle to all travelers older than 12 years. The yellow vaccination book of the WHO is also considered as a valid proof of vaccination. In addition, an online form with information about whereabouts during the stay must be presented upon entry.

Current figures and restrictions in Greece

The 7-day incidence is currently just under 150 cases per 100,000 population. The 2G rule applies in all restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs. This means that only vaccinated and recovered guests are allowed to be there. In addition, masks are compulsory for all indoor areas.
